<p>Optical bonding is an elegant, high-performance technique. It brings many benefits to your displays. LCDIS has been an expert in this technique since 2004.</p>



<p>The most common reason for wanting an optically bonded display is outdoor use. The operating environment hardens and legibility is no longer guaranteed. You may also need to harden a display.</p>



<p>Here are the main advantages of optical bonding:</p>



<p>Better light transmission (adaptation of the optical indices of the different materials).<br>Lower operating temperature (elimination of the air gap).<br>Prevents condensation, mould and dust.<br>Reduces unwanted reflections and refraction (maintains the intrinsic contrast of your display).<br>Hardens the display (dissipates some of the impact energy).<br>Improved thermal management (heat dissipation in the bonded material).<br>Significant improvement in legibility (AR, AG or ARAG surface treatments).<br>Simplified integration. Most of the time, the display is mechanically held in place by the force of optical bonding.<br>Optical bonding is very useful for high luminosity displays. Contrary to popular belief, high luminosity is not enough to guarantee legibility.</p>



<p>Durable optical bonding requires extensive technical knowledge. It also requires a precise analysis of why you need it. It is not possible to use a single adhesive chemistry and a single process and hope to be able to respond to every situation. The analysis will determine</p>



<p>the thickness of the bond<br>the adhesive to be used<br>the horizontal/vertical gravity or injection process<br>the sealing of the bezel<br>the use of spacers<br>The nature of the adhesive (wet air cure, UV cure, vacuum cure, etc.).<br>LCDIS has the experience required for OCA (Optically Clear Adhesive, or dry bonding) and OCR (Optically Clear Resin, or wet/liquid bonding) processes.
